Pre-Showcase Meeting for the 2023 Dominican Film Showcase in Miami

Miami, FL – On September 14, 2023, a significant private meeting took place at Miami Dade College, Wulfson Campus, as part of the Pre-Showcase event for the 2023 Dominican Film Showcase. This gathering brought together prominent leaders from the film and entertainment industries of the Dominican Republic and the United States to discuss future partnership opportunities aimed at promoting Dominican cinema on an international scale.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Leonel Fernández, President of GFDD/FUNGLODE, along with Marco Giron, Chief of Film and Entertainment of Miami-Dade County; Omar de la Cruz, Director of the Cine Global Funglode Festival; Ivette Marichal, Deputy Executive Director of Cine Global Funglode; and Juan Marichal, Emeritus Member of Cine Global Funglode. Also present were Guillermo Sencion, representing Grupo Sencion; Gonzalo Gonzalez, Founder and CEO of The Ad Nation; Luis Lacau, Director and Editor at Art & Cinema; José Zaiter, Executive Director of GFDD Florida; and Soulangel Santana, Deputy Executive Director of GFDD Florida.

During the meeting, attendees discussed strategic topics related to the promotion and expansion of Dominican cinema, as well as potential collaborations between cities and institutions to strengthen the film industry in both countries. The meeting concluded with a commitment to continue strengthening relationships and exploring new opportunities for collaboration to bring Dominican cinema to new audiences.
